Water is known as a purifier, a cleanser, perhaps even one capable of turning vulgarity into virtue. Enduktos takes from the idea of ritual cleansing - a theme magnified within Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, in which waves of water stand on guard, surrounding the central clamshell as if to threaten that each ripple is in-fact ready to act on the slightest aggression.
Enduktos is made to look like streams of water running down the female form in its attempt of cleansing and purification, with hand-embroidered pearls concentrated in sections to look like droplets, and óasi’s elemental rope embroidery made to look like the tails these droplets leave behind. With each piece being a conversation on one of our interpretations of the painting and the themes it represents to óasi, Enduktos exists in a world that documents the condemnation of the female form, its mind and the inferences and importances these project onto purity structures throughout history.
Enduktos is a wrap-style top with an asymmetric neckline that ends in a tie at the side. The singular sleeve is fitted in a relaxed style, with an intricately embroidered edging that mimics the eventual gathering of water after it’s dripped off the female form.
