Named after Ancient Greek ‘breast-bands’, Apodes simply exists for beauty, femininity and fun. Lying atop beige satin in a fully boned format, the neckline of Apodes is pleated with delicate tulle, a texture taken from the clamshell that Venus is said to have floated ashore in. The cups of the bustier, or in our minds, the clamshells, are machine embroidered with silver lines, making the likeness of the wearer in Apodes, and Venus standing in her clamshell, a little closer. Both the neckline and the hemline of the piece are finished with thin strips of lace, both created to look almost like a chain-link, continuing the allegory on free will, binding and the human body.
