Nema is a visual ode to the interconnectedness of stories, woven together with the metaphorical red string that links moments, people, and concepts across time. Drawing its name from the Ancient Greek word for "yarn," nema celebrates embroidery as a tool of storytelling.

The hand-embroidered motifs that traverse the jacket evoke the yarns that controlled fate in the ancient Greek world, as though to display the visual intertwining of the fates of multiple. On the nema vest, we see yarns white and silver - in our minds, each belonging to a different woman from our Basra Tapestry. Placed together like the narrative threads of a crime board, the yarns of fate map connections, themes, and motives in a tapestry of intention. The embroidery intensifies downwards of the waist, bold and intricate, grounding the vest in a sense of purpose and depth. These motifs are taken from botanica seen around Botticelli’s birth of Venus, and the Oxburgh hangings made by Mary Queen of Scots during her time in captivity at the English court. To further contrast the supple velvet base, a drizzle of pearls and glass beads have been hand-embroidered within the leaves & flowers embroidered, along with silver metal threads, also known as zardosi. The textural intrigue created brings out the radiance of the mono-chromatic colour scheme of Nema.

The Nema vest is double-breasted, allowing for fastening towards the left-side of the body, accentuated by the hand-embroidered collar. Nema gently flares from the waist, through the use of intentionally set godets. While sleeveless in this variation, óasi also recommends the same piece with flared sleeves.
