Chiton Skirt & Bralette Set
Inspired by the Greek classic dress of the same name, óasi’s take on the chiton features silk embroidery, inspired by the textures within Botticelli’s birth of Venus, be it that of the trees, the illustration of the wind or the hair of Venus. The base patterns are complemented by an array of hand-embroidered pearls and french knots that emphasise and articulate the flow of each fluid strand.
The skirt takes from the waves that wash over the clamshell in the Birth of Venus, which translates into the skirt through a fold-over panel on which the embroidery is done, almost to look like a wave of textures washing upon the skirt. The asymmetric cut of the fold-over is carried on towards the hem of the skirt, which turns into a handkerchief silhouette, drawing attention to the wearer’s legs and elongating the body.
The Moontes Top takes inspiration from Botticelli’s *Birth of Venus*, where Venus’s flowing hair becomes a veil, concealing her body while shaping how she is seen. Exploring ideas of modesty, perception, and the female form, the piece brings this motif to life through intricately textured silk-thread embroidery laid across handwoven striped silk organza, whose subtle lines reference the collection’s recurring cage motif. Delicate tulle pleating at the neckline recalls the shell that carries Venus to shore, while braided detailing along the hem continues the collection’s exploration of free will, restraint, and the human body.
The Sagene Scarf is constructed from hand-cut chiffon belts woven into a net-like structure that references both textile-making and cartography. Exploring the ways women's identities are shaped through inherited narratives and social expectations, the piece forms a symbolic map of interconnected experiences, where each intersection suggests both solidarity and restriction. Through material, technique, and form, Sagene becomes a wearable conversation on the structures that shape gendered storytelling.
