In Kathairo, we return to the moment just after the arrival of venus, the moment that lies in between being seen and becoming known, perhaps the only moment without condemnation or overt perception. Kathairo is rendered in handwoven silk, cut in a bias, a grounding layer that hangs off the body with its own movement. Over, translucent streams of chiffon fall, curling around and braiding into one another, some reminiscent of streams of water, and others mimicking the hair of Venus as painted by Botticelli - as both veil, and flag of femininity. The design delves deeper into hair as a symbol of the feminine and of sisterhood, in particular, the intimate rituals of sisterhood and care, evoking the deeply personal act of tending to another’s hair—an expression of love, trust, and shared connection.

The sleeves, long and trailing, extend beyond the hands like waves reaching toward land. Edged in delicate ruffles, they echo seafoam cresting at dusk—frilled, ephemeral, always in motion. These evoke the elemental touch of water—the one that carried her, cleansed her, and claimed her. Kathairo—to purify, to cleanse—speaks to the myth from an aspect of experiencing the unsaid, the ephemeral, exploring the ideas of water as a cleansing agent. It sits within the collection as a memory of the sea’s role: not only the womb of the goddess, but the force that strips and softens, polishing the self into readiness.
