Kleis Midi
Ancient Greek for “key.”
Kleis is a fully pleated, high-waisted skirt made from ivory striped silk organza, handwoven by Óasi’s family of weavers in West Bengal. Falling below the knee, its structured silhouette draws on the feminine shapes of 1950s dressing, while the sheer, striped fabric introduces a more complex story. The repeating lines of the weave recall the bars of a cage, returning to the collection’s exploration of the structures that contain women and shape how they are expected to live. Named after the key, Kleis holds a quiet contradiction: the possibility of freedom within a form defined by restraint.
