In weaving, there is the craft, etymology and inferences- In the weaving within Plakaki, the inferences come in the form of the journey of research methodology within the Basra Tapestry, symmetric to left-over paint palettes one sees lying upon a hill of abandoned paint tubes and paint brushes. Óasi’s clothing is either the direct, intended final art piece itself, or a presentation of our methodology and process- Plakaki becomes an example of the latter. Taking in the symbolism of weaving together the tales of the women behind the Basra Tapestry, plakaki presents weaving a various scalar levels - primarily beginning at the handwoven tweed, moving today the hand-woven metallic silk, and then the more optically seen weaving of strips of the same metallic silk.

The word plakaki itself comes from the Ancient Greek word for tile, taking from the shape the weaving technique lends to the visual textures of the skirt.
