Klobos Dress
Ancient Greek for “cage.”
Klobos is a body-skimming dress in a beige and blue checkered pattern, fitted through the waist before flaring out below the hips. Its cage-like silhouette draws from the Basra Tapestry’s exploration of the structures that contain women and shape how they are expected to behave and be seen.
The sleeves are attached to the dress through hand-braided silk threads, forming a chain-like connection between the body and the fabric. Extending dramatically beyond the length of the dress, the sleeves interrupt the otherwise structured silhouette, reaching beyond the boundaries that contain it. The contrast between the grid-like pattern and the elongated sleeves explores the tension between confinement and the desire to move beyond it.
