Inspired by the structured undergarments worn during the Tudor period, the Gilded Cage Dress draws from the innerwear associated with Anne Boleyn. Constructed from stiff tulle and fully boned throughout, the dress exposes the architecture traditionally concealed beneath historical garments. Strips of cotton chiffon are individually hand-wrapped around the base structure, softening the rigidity of the form while preserving its underlying framework.
 
Long lengths of chiffon are left to cascade from the garment, creating movement and a sense of deconstruction. The strapless silhouette remains sculptural through the body before opening into a voluminous skirt that reveals the cage-like construction beneath.
