Gymnos Dress
Named after the Ancient Greek word for “naked,” the Gymnos Dress explores the tension between concealment and exposure. Constructed from over 40 metres of tulle in multiple shades, the garment uses transparency, layering, and structure to reveal the architecture of the dress rather than disguise it.
The illusion neckline leads into a fitted bodice and a voluminous skirt developed from three tonal base fabrics. Layered godets create subtle shifts in colour and volume, producing a watercolour-like effect throughout the silhouette. White chiffon strips are individually cut, braided, and applied across the surface, tracing the movement of Venus’s hair in The Birth of Venus. Streaming across the body, these lines create a sense of motion while drawing attention to the contours beneath.
