Komai Trousers

₹63,000.00Price

Ancient Greek for “tresses” or “locks of hair.”

More than 160 hours of pearl beading.

Komai takes its colour from the flowing auburn hair of Venus in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus. Throughout the collection, hair becomes a recurring motif, exploring its relationship with purity and modesty, and the expectations placed upon women to conceal themselves. The trousers feature a draped section that follows the winding fall of Venus’s hair, allowing the wearer to step into the painting herself.

Across this drape sits a collage of handwoven pearl flowers and embroidered appliqué petals. Each pearl is made by hand using a technique developed in-house at Óasi, while the flowers draw from those suspended in time around Venus in Botticelli’s painting. We imagine where they might have landed had they continued their descent, gathering along the drape as though they had fallen onto Venus herself.
