Astron Sari
Astron features Venus’ auburn hair, arranged into a grid of eclectic moons, each with its own face. A layer of significant portraits of the six women who inspired the collection follows, with each portrait custom designed for Óasi. The sari is finished with a checkered border, topped with rows of moons.
The moon is a recurring symbol throughout Basra, representing its control over the tides—the same waters from which Venus emerged. Its influence over the ocean is tied to ideas of purity and ritual cleansing, while also becoming a metaphor for the control exerted by the world around these women: the expectations, narratives, and forces that sought to shape who they were.
