Karo Sari
Named Karó, after the Ancient Greek word for “plaid,” this sari brings together a classic plaid pattern with the six women who inspired the Basra Tapestry — Venus, Helen of Troy, Anne Boleyn, Catherine de’ Medici, Elizabeth I, and Mary, Queen of Scots. The border features portraits of each woman, woven into the composition alongside an eclectic interpretation of Venus’s flowing auburn hair, bringing the sari back to the central inspiration of the collection.
At the pallu, a trellis of eclectic moons stretches across the fabric, arranged almost like a family tree and connecting the different women, symbols, and stories that run through Basra.
