Klydon Shirt
Ancient Greek for “surging wave.”
Klydon is made from beige crushed chiffon, with layers of ruffles that begin close to the neckline and gradually expand outwards. The ruffling continues along the length of the bell sleeves, while a gathered waist and adjustable tie bring the silhouette together. Falling to the low waist, the top takes inspiration from the clamshell and the waves crashing against it in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus.
The expanding ruffles echo the movement of water as it gathers and breaks against the shell, translating the painting’s seascape into layers of fabric.
