Konche Skirt Set, Velvet
Konche, meaning shell in Ancient Greek, quite literally takes from the clam shell in Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, with its fishtail silhouette being made to look like the wearer is standing within the shell themselves. Konche is made of 26 panels, with each one wrapping around the waist and hips and then unfurling at the knee, with the help of strategically placed godets. Each panel of the skirt has been carefully thought-out to recreate the curvature and depth that presents itself within each wave of the clamshell.
Worn with the Ostrac top, with a halter neckline, elegantly folded, and deep armholes, creating an architectural silhouette. Designed on the bias, Ostrac achieves an effortless drape, allowing it to fluidly contour the wearer’s form. Ostrac’s front surface is adorned with meticulously hand-embroidered pearl and glass bead detailing, evocative of the organic textures and patterns of shells.
To finish the pieces, we have the Byrsa Cloak, in its plain and minimal form, as well as its embroidered form. Constructed from bias-cut panels of velvet, this reiteration of Byrsa emphasizes fluidity in form while taking from the original Byrsa cloaks to offer an architectural silhouette.
