Ancient Greek for “shell” or “conch.” 

The Konkhe Jacket imitates the grottos of Medici Florence- man-made garden rooms built out of stone and shell. This, and the essence of the grottos, we recreated into a jacket. 

The base of Konkhe is embroidered with vertical lines of hand stitches to begin building texture, with the hems of Konkhe being turned into a grotto in itself. 

Pieces of satin, each individually embroidered with pearls and glass beads, are cut and hand appliquéd in overlapping layers. They curl and hang like shell and dripping stone, and catch the light as the wearer moves. The jacket is a tailored, hip-length piece with structured shoulders, and a tall standing collar.
