Kalypomai Skirt Set
In constant renalysis, there is completion, or the closest we get to a full picture. Kalypomai, meaning overlap in Ancient Greek, taps into the idea of rewriting, rethinking, and reattribution as a way to get closer to reaching absolute truth. The base of kalypomai is formed by an airy layer of pleated chiffon, wrapping around the waist, atop which sits an asymmetric cut panel, intricately embroidered with motifs close to the heart of the Basra Tapestry - almost like scribbled notes in the margins of a book, filled with thoughts and doodles. The Enduktos Top akes inspiration from water as a symbol of cleansing and purification in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus. The wrap-style top traces streams of water across the female form, with hand-embroidered pearls concentrated like droplets and Óasi’s elemental rope embroidery following the trails they leave behind. Its asymmetric neckline ends in a side tie, while the relaxed single sleeve is finished with intricate embroidery that mimics water gathering after it falls from the body.
