Inspired by the stripes and woven structures that evoke confinement, and the flowing hair of Venus in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus.

Made out of striped, handwoven silk organza, for the likeness it has to cage-like structures. The beauty of Rakas exists within its lightness, almost likened to the softness of air.  The natural stiffness gives the jacket its relaxed, boxy structure. The stripes form a grid-like pattern, echoing the collection’s exploration of the social expectations that confine women and shape how they are seen. 

Auburn stitching traces the jacket, drawing from Venus’s hair in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, a motif through which the collection explores femininity, purity and modesty. Two types of handmade lace finish the piece: a finer lace follows each seam, while a broader lace wraps around the biceps, adding texture against the structured organza. At the back, delicate halter-style detailing introduces an unexpected element, while an elasticated waist allows the jacket to gather softly. The drop shoulders and asymmetric hem, which falls slightly longer at the back, complete this casual piece with a balance of structure and ease.
