Hamartia Set

₹30,500.00Price

Ancient Greek for “error” or “fault,” often used in the context of tragic flaws.

Hamartia is a slip set with a a slightly oversized, hip-length blazer made from nude-coloured tulle chosen to echo the shade of Venus’s skin. An asymmetric wrap detail frames the body, while free-hanging appliqués trace the movement of the sea across the garment. Each appliqué is embroidered onto silk organza using silk threads and metal sequins, building texture, dimension and shading.

The Hamartia Blazer is inspired by the waves in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, which appear poised to wash over Venus in an act of ritual cleansing, Hamartia reimagines water as adornment rather than purification. In a world where the nude female form has often been associated with sin, the waves become a way for the wearer to reclaim the very symbols once used to cover, cleanse or condemn her.

The slip dress is cut from nude modal satin, chosen to echo the colour and softness of Venus’s skin. Falling to a maxi length, it follows the body with a fluid silhouette, while a deep racerback and exaggerated armholes leave much of the back and sides exposed. The open construction draws attention to the body without attempting to conceal it, continuing Óasi’s exploration of nudity, modesty and the ways the female form is looked at and understood. Its simplicity allows the skin itself to become part of the design, recalling the bare, unguarded figure of Venus while questioning why nudity is so often treated as something that needs to be covered.
