The Metera Set takes inspiration from the shell in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, the birthplace from which Venus emerges. Each individual shell is embroidered by hand in different shades of zari and metallic thread, then carefully placed and stitched together to form the bandeau and skirt. The cropped bandeau can be customised for additional coverage, while the pencil skirt follows the body and is finished with a side slit. The set explores the shell as a place of origin and protection, asking whether a woman can escape the condemnation of the world around her if she remains within the safety of her birthplace.
