Ancient Greek for “mother.”
The Metera Top takes inspiration from the shell in Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, the birthplace from which Venus emerges. Made from individual shells embroidered by hand in different shades of zari and metallic thread, each shell is carefully placed and stitched together to form the cropped bandeau silhouette. The top explores the shell as a place of origin and protection, asking whether a woman can escape the condemnation of the world around her if she remains within the safety of her birthplace.
The bandeau can be customised for additional coverage.
